What does Pentney Abbey have to offer?
A perfect place to marry.
In my opinion, Pentney Abbey is one of the most spectacular wedding venues that Norfolk has to offer. It’s completely surrounded by gorgeous rolling countryside and provides the perfect setting for a unique and magical fairy-tale wedding.
Exclusive use for weddings.
Since Pentney Abbey was restored and renovated it’s been offering its guests exclusive use for weddings. The grounds are wonderfully kept and provide various stunning spaces that cater perfectly for each part of the wedding day, giving the option to marry inside or out, either in the medieval Gatehouse or among the tranquil rose garden.
Pentney Abbey boasts a grade II listed farmhouse with three bedrooms, kitchen and dinning room as well as a separate room specially for the bridal preparations. It also offers a luxurious honeymoon suite which is secluded with its own private entrance. There are a further two, cosy two bed cottages as well as a gorgeous barn with plenty of space, absolutely perfect for the wedding breakfast and evening party.
One of the things that I like about Pentney Abbey is the super cosy feel and the fact that you get to make it your home for the duration of your stay.
What do I enjoy most about working at Pentney Abbey?
The medieval setting.
From the minute you arrive at Pentney Abbey you get the feeling that you’ve just stepped into the land of the medieval 1300’s. There’s certainly plenty of history and lots of character about this magical place.
The relaxed atmosphere.
I really enjoy photographing weddings at Pentney Abbey because they always have a very relaxed feel about them and they’re always so well organised. The team at Pentney Abbey go above and beyond to ensure that everything runs smoothly and on time every time. You can’t beat an organised wedding day when everything just flows from one part to the next. When everyone is organised and knows what’s going on and when, it makes my job as a wedding photographer so much easier, and a lot more fun!
The awesome natural light.
Besides all that, as a wedding photographer it’s all about capturing moments to create great photos, but great photos aren’t always possible without the help of good light and good composition. This is where Pentney Abbey really shines – literally, because I’ve noticed that it doesn’t matter where I am or what the weather’s doing, there always seems to be a tonne of fantastic light bouncing through my lens. At first you’d think that being inside the Gatehouse would be dark, cold and gloomy, but its actually the complete opposite. There are huge beautiful windows that allow natural light to fall inside the Gatehouse and light the entire ceremony room just perfectly. Even as the bride walks up the iconic, stone, spiral staircase there are a couple of perfectly placed windows that offer beautiful soft light for an amazing shot! It’s basically a wedding photographers dream come true ceremony!
The food served at Pentney Abbey is absolutely delicious and definitely needs a mention! Yes the guys at Pentney have spoilt me at every wedding with mouth watering meals! The catering team are amazing and always serve up some of the best wedding meals I’ve seen, and tasted! The deserts are scrumptious too! Especially the lemon tart and raspberry sorbet!
Here’s some of my recent work from Pentney Abbey.
As a Norfolk wedding photographer, throughout the 2019 wedding season I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph three beautiful weddings at Pentney Abbey. All three of them were totally unique, and they were all so bloody amazing! I’ll definitely be remembering them for quite some time.
If you’re currently planning a wedding and looking around at the many Norfolk venues, Pentney Abbey is absolutely stunning and has so much to offer, so if you’ve not done so already, I highly recommend checking it out! In my opinion it should be the next thing on your list!
